Hello Cathy, Thank you for your response. A fresh download to a different
specified hard disk location has solved the problems. I moved the downloaded
.exe file to an external storage location for safety in the future. I reported
the incident because it was a random occurrence at a time when such incidents
have become more common. The only other program that seems to have suffered is
a version of Outlook Express which the anti-virus software recommends no longer
be used as it is deemed unsafe. I have been using Legacy since version 4 and
have found version 6.0 adequate for my needs and have not found it necessary to
upgrade. In about 6 years I have not had any problem with the program other
than by my own carelessness. I have backed up the database which shows minimal
loss of data and renamed the copy. Hopefully this continue to keep the rest of
the data safe. Thank you again for your advice Hugh

Hugh,
You can delete the lock ldb file. The Legacy database is a Microsoft Access
database and it is locked when in use. If Legacy crashes, the file sometimes
remains locked. All your data is in the .fdb file.
It sounds like you are getting false positives unless some malware has affected
more than the Legacy program?
I don't use Windows Defender as my regular virus checker but do scan with it
occasionally and happened to use it for a full computer scan today. As a Legacy
tester, I have a number of Legacy versions installed and it didn't report any
of them. But I don't have Legacy 6 installed.
Trust you get it sorted with a fresh download and install of Legacy 6. You know
that you shouldn't install Legacy 6 into a Program Folder, don't you. Anywhere
else is fine.
