I should have added that the suspension does not unsubscribe you, it
only stops the list from sending you new mails. This means that you can
send mail to the list but you may not be getting mail sent to the list,
that is why I included you directly instead of just replying to the list.
Original message:
As an ex administrator for these lists I can tell you that the list
management software keeps track of bounces, which are returns from your
ISP saying the email was not delivered/accepted. There can be many
reasons for these so it is not possible to say why the list was getting
bounces from mail addressed to you. In some cases though they are
because your ISP has classed the list email as spam so you may have to
contact your ISP support to ensure that mail from the list is not rejected.
If the list is successful in sending a message the bounce counter resets
so those excessive bounces have to be consecutive. Once the bounce
counter reaches a limit set by the list administrators the user is sent
the message you report receiving and the list stops trying to include
your address in outgoing list mail.
Others have given you instructions on accessing your email list account
page to activate your account so I will not repeat those.

I have received an email purporting to come from this group, informing
me that my membership of the group has been disabled "due to excessive
bounces", whatever that means. I am then given various links through
which I can re-enable my membership, and am told that I can visit my
membership page (I didn't know I had one!), and even tells me my
password, which seems rather odd. All in all, this looks to me like a
scam. Can anyone throw any light on this?
