Do you have show married names and/or show AKA's turned on in your Index
view options? There are a couple of issues with the Index view update
when those options are turned on.
If you turn those options off then the new people should show immediately.
Have you tried simply changing to another view then returning to Index
to refresh the list. If so does that show the new person?
Not sure what might be causing you to lose the bottom bar so I cannot
comment on that.
