If you turn off all running programs and then RIGHT click the installation file 
and select Run as Administrator this will stop 99% of the problems. If you 
update through the program itself (Legacy home tab) all you need to do is make 
sure that all running programs are off. 

Turning off all other programs avoids the DLL conflict issue.

Bear in mind that what you are seeing here are posts from the *very few* who 
have had problems compared to the hundreds (thousands probably) who have 
updated without issues and are getting on with their lives.
