I've done the same thing, but it is tedious. I did it buy listing each location
and then manually extracting the place names, then entering them into a
spreadsheet. Boring but worthwhile. It lead me some relationships that I had
not made before and also to interrelated families that I had not understood
before. This also led to recognizing some variant spellings that I had never
thought of.

Somewhere in the deep recess of my brain I am sure I remembered making a list
of the surnames in my tree plus the various areas associated with the surnames.
It must have been in another lifetime as I have no recollection of how I
achieved this. I am fairly sure that I managed to get it into a spreadsheet –
but that has joined the ether as well.
If this can be achieved could someone please give me simple steps as to how I
can do it – or is it merely something I dreamt about??
