I know that there are issues with OneDrive, and potentially with any
off-site storage.
The question is whether OneDrive wants, or can, maintain a duplicate set
of files across its own system and on your PC, or if it will keep them
remotely and just download those which you need to access locally.
Running that with 24K files may cause networking and performance issues.
Personalty I would never use an off-site solution for a lot of files and
insist that they are stored locally, with the option to make off-site
backup copies.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately Legacy knows where all my
files are. They are stored in OneDrive. Customize/Locations have been
set correctly.. But the problem persists.

The FIRST rule on Legacy images is to ensure that they are located in
the Media folder, or its sub-folders, as specified in Options /
Customise / 6.2.
The SECOND rule is to never rename or relocate them, since all that
Legacy remembers are the folder and the file name.
The THIRD rule is to have a standardised structure for file and folder
names.
From Customise / 6, use the View Current List of Media Folders. In an
ideal situation it will list one or folders with the structure
[Default Media Folder], followed by its sub-folders if necessary. The
[Default Media Folder] is that specified in 6.2. Against each entry in
that list, you have a number of Options.
1. Show List will show you a list of the individuals connected to that
folder.
2. Add will allow you to add a new folder and Change will allow you to
change it. Personally, I would not change it but use the next option
to restructure it.
3. At the bottom, there is an option to combine one entry into
another. Using that, Legacy will work through the entries in the
folder and change the entries in the individual to point to the new
folder. What it will not do is to physically relocate the files, which
would be nice.
4. The Test All Media Folders will scan through the system and
identify files that it cannot locate, listing the expected file.
That leaves you with the question of relocating the files. From Tools
/ Media Relinker you can get Legacy to scan through for PC and try to
locate the missing files, assuming that you have not renamed them.
Once scanned, they will show you, one at a time, each matched file
showing where it is and where it should be. You have the option to
link to the matched file, and possibly for other files in the same
folder, or to skip it. Again, the files do not get relocated and only
the link is modified, and it would be nice if Legacy could relocate
them.
If you have a missing file and double click on it you will get the
Find File option. That will give you the option of running the Media
Relinker, or get Legacy to search for the file or, and often better,
of doing the search manually on the basis that you probably know where
the file is. Once found, you can quickly link to it.
Personally, I would not run the Media Relinker on the basis that from
the Test All Media Folders report I can quickly identify that I have
either just renamed a file or that I have a folder which I can quickly
use Windows Explorer to put in the correct location. Also, with my PC
it can take a long time to scan and I generally know where my media
are or should be. It would be useful to limit the Relink My Media to
start at a folder and not at the top of the drive.
With renamed files you have the issue of resetting them to match what
is set in Legacy. If it is correctly linked in Legacy, then the
Picture Centre will allow you to rename it, but it does not work the
other way round.
It would be nice if Legacy gave you better tools to manipulate the
links and files. In my case, I used Access to modify the Legacy
datebase and Explorer to relocate the folders and files.
Hopefully, all that you need to do is locate the correct folders and
relocate them to the correct positions, and ensure that they are
correctly linked within Legacy.
Really, it comes down to getting the structure correct at the
beginning.

Subject [LegacyUG] Serious problem with Legacy 9.0.0.414
Somehow my Legacy is all screwed up. I can run a clean Compact
Family File and a Check/Repair with no problems. But I lost many of
my census images because of stupidity on my part. When I run a Test
All Media Files. I get a list of
26870 lost census images. So I begin getting new copies of the
census images and attach them to the correct individual. Lo and
behold! When I run a Media Linker or a Test All Media Files, the
corrected individuals still show up as missing their media links. I
can go into the individual sources and verify that the census images
are correct. They are correct. So somehow Legacy cannot find them.
Any suggestions?
