Henry,
This is an excerpt from Legacy Help File on exporting GEDCOM:
"Follow these steps to export a GEDCOM file from Legacy:
1. Click Export To / GEDCOM File from the File menu. (Or press Ctrl-E)
2. Select the type of GEDCOM file to produce.
3. Check the boxes corresponding to the records you want to include in the
file.
4. Click Compiler... to make sure the information about you, the compiler or
creator of the GEDCOM file, is correct.
5. If you want to change the default list of field information that to be
included in the GEDCOM file, click Customize.
6. When you have made all the desired settings, click START EXPORT.
7. From the Export GEDCOM File dialog box, type in the name of the file you
want to create. This can be any name up to eight characters. Often, an
appropriate surname or abbreviation makes a good file name." (Be sure to
remember where you are storing it on your hard drive. Write down the "path"
that is located right under the word "Folders" in the top center area of the
Export box, example "c:\legacy\data")
To attach it to an email message, create your message, then click on the
"attach" button on the toolbar (or comparable button depending on your mail
program). You'll be asked to locate the file. Use the arrow at the right
of the "look in" box to locate the folder where you stored it (example
c:\legacy\data). Click the name of the file, then click open (or save or
attach, or whatever button your program indicates).
To send an Ahnentafel report or any other report via email, I save the
report as a text file (lower right corner of Legacy report options screens).
You can then add a text (*.txt) file into the body of your mail message by
clicking the Insert menu and then clicking Text from File. These are
instructions for Office Express with Internet Explorer. If you use a
different mail program, there is probably something similar. If not, you
can always open the *.txt file in Windows Notepad, highlight and copy the
text, then paste it into your email message.
Hope this helps. I'm sure others will come up with other ways to accomplish
the same task.
