Within the current limits of the field, you could also put "Adopted by
StepDad. Birth Mom" or "Adopted by StepMom. Birth Dad." I don't know if the
field will be longer in Legacy 3.0 to be released in November.

I like this idea. I might want to modify the wording - still thinking
about it. One thing - this field only accepts 30 char. Any chance of
lengthening the field?

Legacy Users:

This may help in defining the exact nature of an adoption by a step-parent:

1. Enter the adoptive child just as you would any other.
2. In Family View with the parents in Husb and Wife position, right click
on
the adopted child and select Children's Settings from the popup menu.
3. Highliight the adopted child in the Children box and click on the
drop-down arrow in the Status field.
4. You can Add your own Child Status definitions. For example: "Adopted by
Father: Birth Mother" or "Adopted ny Mother: Birth Father" would disting
uish
an adoption by a step-parent.

Your comments are welcome.
