If you have ever imported a Gedcom file into Family Tree Maker, the program
"assumes" ALL Gedcom files are Family Tree Maker Files. It does this by
associating the Gedcom extension in "File Types" with family Tree Maker. If
you want to get rid of this, Open "My Computer" on your desktop, go to
"View" and then "Options". There you will see a tab for "File Types".
Scroll the list until you get to FTW and click on each of the listings. In
the detail box below the window, it will list the associated extension.
When you find the one that lists GED, "Remove" it from the list.

The important part is, that the file you are trying to email will have a GED
extension on it if you created the Gedcom file correctly.
