Hello Barb.
I have not yet seen a decent reply to you on the list.
Have you received the help which you sought?
I am still a novice at this process, but the Merge facility in Legacy is
great.

First: Make a back-up copy of your Legacy database -- so that if you foul
up, you will still have it.

Second: Open Legacy to one of the parents who you wish to merge --
preferably the entry which you wish to keep -- just single click in that
entry, so that is becomes blue (i.e. becomes the active entry);

Then: Click on the MERGE button on the Legacy toolbar;
Then: Click on "Manual Merge".
(ignore the back-up message, because you have already done that)
You will then see your chosen person's details appear in the left-hand of a
new box.
Then: click on "Select Right" (That will bring up the name list.)
Scroll through until you find the other person with the same name whom you
wish to merge;
Then single click on that name to highlight it.
Then single click on the "Select" button near the bottom of the screen. That
should bring up the other person.
Check the details on the screen for each person, to ensure that they are the
correct two to be merged.
Read all of the options on the bottom of the screen, as to whether you want
to swap left to right, edit left, edit right, etc, to keep or lose event
information etc.

When you have done all that you need there, select the Merge Right into Left
button
and it should all go okay.

It might be best to try it first with 2 people for whom you don't have any
or much info, other than their name. That way you become familiar with the
process, without risking the loss of too much info.

I hope that this is clear enough for you; as I said, I am a novice at it
myself. It may be that our resident experts can give you a much easier and
quicker way to do it; but this is the method which I have used a few times.

GOOD LUCK! Ray Hawkins in Sydney, australia -- a legacy fan !
