Read the November 2001 story in PC World entitled "Windows XP, Should You
Upgrade?" In the article it mentions that "Windows XP requires more memory,
processor might, and hard disk space than any previous Windows version. But
even if your PC meets Microsoft's recommendations, the company doesn't
recommend the XP upgrade for computers more than about two years old,
because it has given up trying to make Windows compatible with older
hardware and BIOSs. Several PC World editors upgraded older systems but the
odds are against a trouble-free installation, according to Microsoft" (page
95, November 2001 PC World). And in the March 2002 issue of PC World (page
18) in an article entitled "The XP Verdict" is the statement that "Roughly
half of several hundred PCWorld.com users responding to an informal survey
reported positive upgrade experiences. The other half fared worse, and many
eventually removed the OS from their PCs. Though the survey results are far
from scientific, they do suggest that upgrading to Windows XP is nothing to
be undertaken lightly."

So, for the time being I am sticking with Windows 98 since my machine is
over three years old and Legacy 3 works fine on my system.

Windows XP is far superior to Windows 98.

You can install and use Windows 98 or whatever if you really don't
want XP. I think if I get a new machine, I will install 98.
