Good day. If we're going to get into a debate on this one, my two penn'orth says he is absolutely right. All publishing of personal details is surely vanity publishing. If you really _were_ interested in putting your research online _solely_ so that others would find it valuable, you would make it available in the shortest time in the most helpful format. Pretty, non-related pictures and sweet music - no matter if my taste agrees with yours or not - take up downloading time and if you have to pay for every second you're online it isn't much fun watching the second AND the minute hand sweep round on the timer.
No, what goes on to so many sites I seem to find is the old "I will because I can." If you want to put the details up so every member of your family can read your research, then fine - don't bother of course to register with any search engines, just tell your family where to look. But if you want _me_ to be impressed with your research - then KISS.
