But you don't have to use the browsers.

On the menubar in Legacy you see an item called "Internet", click on it and
you see a list op options, near the bottom of that list you see the option
"Check for Legacy Update", click on it. Then you get a smal window called
"Check for Update", in this window you can see what your latest 'build' is
(as of today this is 21 March 2002). You can tick or untick the box
"Automatically check for ...". I suppose if you have a constant connection
to the  Internet you could tick this box. Beneath this there's a button
"Check for Update". Click this button and wait, when the check is done there
is a message that tells you if there's an update or not.

Or you could do the following: press the following keys in Legacy: ALT + i;
then ALT + u; ALT + u. If you're not connected to the Internet right now you
should be prompted to log in, if it doesn't, you should first log in to
Internet and then do the above.
