Both excellent questions. Personally, I put all names I can verify or source in one way or the other in the given name field. All else goes in AKA. As for titles, I believe these die in formal usage with the holder. After that into Notes they go: my aunt was a Colonel in the army while she served, a Colonel (Ret.) by courtesy until she died, then became Dorothy Tessen.

The advantage is that for instance my mother doesn't show up anymore as 'Margaretha Emilie Johanna Maria' <g>. The disadvantage of course - people with same (first) given names can't be identified easily, and I don't really like the looks of it in reports (again). How do you do it? 2 Similar story with titles. At the beginning I entered all the Dr., Dir. Ing (engineer) etc. but later decided that it just sounded silly on reports or pedigrees to have an uncle named Dr. Fred Flintstone (or the like). Thus I moved all this info over to the notes. Particularly some 50 or 100 and more years after a person is gone, I feel that the title looses increasingly more of the importance that it may have had before. What's you solution to this?
