Karen, I understand you concerns, and I agree with you.
But what if the auto-sort feature was an OPTION on Gedcom import?
That way people who would greatly benefit from such a feature could
get the sorted children they want upon Gedcom import.  The feature
only seems to me to be useful for importing large numbers of people
into a family file via Gedcom import.  Families entered manually
can be sorted (and should be IMO) at the time of data entry.
