That is a wonderful story. In my own family, I am the only one who has been
doing our family history, not only direct lines, but also other connections.
My aunt, who is blind and up in her years, still wishes she can do genealogy
My mother has done a lot of research until she had to give it up; but she
was always jotting down notes, etc until the year she passed away.

As for family, I have one daughter, 4 sisters, 11 nieces and nephews, about
12 or 13 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great great nephews and one more
great great niece or nephew on the way in January or February

What a wonderful story! I have 2 sons, 5 grandchildren, and 4 siblings with
9 nieces and nephews. I'm praying that at least one of them will carry on
my research. So far not one seems interested. Since the oldest grandchild
is 11, I still have hope.

I became interested when still in grade school, and probably drove my dear
grandmother crazy with questions. Good thing I did though, otherwise I
would have had a hard time keeping track of her parents.

I knew my great grandparents as Charlie and Tensie Burg. But there were
time periods that I could not find them listed in city directories or census
records. Then I remembered my grandmother's story of how Charlie changed
his name from Johnson to Burg, the last part of his wife's maiden name,
Malburg. He went back and forth from Johnson to Burg and back to Johnson at
random through the years. All this because there were several Charlie
Johnsons living in the same area. Knowing this enabled me to find Charlie
and Tensie's parents.

Best of luck to you and your granddaughter Chuck.
