Hi Connie,

You can see from the Reports that you can choose to use pictures at 200, 400 or 800 pixels wide or original size. Legacy resizes the photos as it adds them. As Sherry says, the Legacy tips page on images is well worth a read.

I attach photos 800 pixels wide and it seems to handle them OK in various reports printed (or saved to pdf at 200 or 400 pixels wide). There are enough pixels to print on home printer on title page if desired.
Also this is a good size for the Slider show which is quite fun and useful for gaining attention at family gatherings if there is a good computer around or setting up a slide show in other applications using the photos attached to Legacy rather than archive copies.

This week I've printed a 433 page Multiple Line of Descent report with numerous individual and event photos. I printed from the saved pdf in 50 page lots. Looks good.

Source photos are a different matter. Most of the source photos I have need to be printed full page to be legible so although I've attached some for reference, I haven't tried printing them with a report. I've only printed them to file and haven't thought much about their size.
Because they need a full page, I think Source Photos are better in a photo appendix rather than scattered amongst the sources. It would be nice if a report could generate a number or appendix page number reference to add to the actual source citation - like the Duplicate Person reference - rather than print the source photo with the source reference. I could set this up myself by Name by using one of the Source fields I guess but this would be confusing if I chose not to print the Source Photos. I'll have to think about that.

Cheers,
Cathy

Hi Sherry,

Quiet yes... have been working on scanning family photos all day :-)

I have a question for you...

I have read Legacy users recommend several different photo sizes for various
Legacy reports... What is the best 'one size fits all' (pixel dimensions and
dpi) to save individual, group and also documents (for attachment to events)
photos which will view well in all reports produced from within Legacy ???
(my archive size are saved elsewhere)

Thanks in advance,
