Hi Doug,

It's up to you whether you attach the child to both sets of parents or not. Since these people appear to be living, it would also be good to consult with them how they want the child to appear in reports.

Note that in Legacy you can set the Relationship to Father and Relationship to Mother separately. Right click on the child and choose Children's settings.

In a similar situation, for publication for a family reunion, I have been asked to include the children in the current marriage only since the children are young and don't yet know the real situation. We didn't want slightly older cousins reading the tree and informing them.
I have the real father marked as Private but unlinked him when producing these reports.

When Legacy 5 was in public beta there was talk from Dave about introducing an invisible option. This hasn't happened but could solve many of these reporting issues.

Cheers,
Cathy

How does one do data entry for a child who was adopted by the husband of the
child's mother? The mother had the child through a previous relationship.
When the two people married the child was officially adopted by the husband
and now carries his surname. So she now lives with her birth mother whose
spouse legally adopted her as one of his/their children. Should this child
show up in a descendant chart only with her mother and biological father? Or
can this child also be shown with her birth mother and father who adopted
her?

Thanks for answers to this question.

Doug
