Dave, Thank you for a voice of reason. Though I too am generally a software junky, I haven't as yet tried SP 2 but I will as soon as it is generally available. I believe Microsoft has a very big interest in getting this update right the first time. They have been battered and bashed in the last year or so because of the many security bugs in Windows and in IE. Their very credibility is at stake with this one. They may not get all the "bugs" out of SP 2 before the general release but I think problems will be addressed with unprecedented speed for MS.
As a sometime developer myself, I have an occasional nightmare about the unforeseen glitch. I can only imagine trying to write an operating system that is supposed to handle every piece of software written by every cowboy on the range. Did you really expect Legacy not to run well? It is after all based on one of the mainstays of MS. I expect Legacy to be fully compatible now and in any foreseeable future that includes MS. I guess there's one in every crowd. And this time it's me. Yes, I've been using XP SP2 since RC2 (about 3 months). I have not had any problems with Legacy. Other things have had problems, and there are lots of new security features that make things work differently. Some of these lead people to believe SP2 is buggy. Just saying "No" to Bill in this (SP2) case is going to be harder than normal, but that's a story for another board. Legacy, so far for me has not been a problem with SP2. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John R. I read on another list that SP 2 has lots of problems. That other applications won't run at all or take 3 to 5 minutes to start up. But accordint to Micro$haft's web site it's a great fixit release to improve the security of WinXP. Seems like with Gatesware you can have security or you can have applications! Specifically, has anyone had any problems running Legacy with SP2? jr Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To find past messages, please go to our searchable archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup%40mail.millenniacorp.com/ To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To find past messages, please go to our searchable archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup%40mail.millenniacorp.com/ To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To find past messages, please go to our searchable archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup%40mail.millenniacorp.com/ To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp
