Primary source: were created at the time or very close to the near the actual event being recorded.
Secondary Source: were created after the fact or some time the event (which means a laspse of time and memory )
Derivative source could be word of mouth accounts, information that was transcribed, extracted, from and original source.
Orginial source Is actually what it means you are seeing the orginial document

Now to answer your question:
If you are recounting a story about your father that you did not actual experience yourself then you are a derivative source
If you experienced the account yourself (lived throught the account) then your writing becomes an original source.
If you are recalling addresses from the past it becomes a secondary source.
If you are recalling addresses from the present they becomes a primary source.

I hope this clarifies some points bill daniels

What is the best way to show the source when I am the source? Some of the facts are things I have from personal knowledge, like the addresses of the family, or my father's occupation. How do I show that?
