I compress all my files into one, then transfer that file and decompress
once it gets uploaded...I do not know of your web hosting company will allow
that.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Creating Web Pages

I was wondering if there was any possibility, when creating web pages, of
just creating new and changed pages. I know it wouldn't be easy, as creating
one new person (or even altering their name) will affect the content of
surrounding people, the surname and name lists etc. I suppose it would need
a new column somewhere to store the date/time a web page was created and
then compare the date/time of modification to see if it is later.

But as my file grows, it is taking longer and longer to FTP the files to the
server. As all files are re-created, the date/time is identical and the FTP
software thinks they are all newer than the previous set. Hence I have to
upload the whole lot each time (unless I know that I have just altered, say,
the Notes for one individual).

As the web site is well over 50mb, even with a fast broadband link, this is
becoming a dire task! Especially as FTP seems to take much of the bandwidth
and so I can do very little else until it completes. I tend to leave it
running when I have a meal or when I go to bed. But Murphy's law says that
soon after I leave the machine something goes wrong and have to
re-start/resume.

Jack
