I created a PDF file for a Descendant Narrative, copied it to a CD and took
it to Kinko's to be printed and bound. They couldn't print it because of
Postscript errors. They could see the file on their computer screen fine,
but when it starts to print it skips the top part of the page, prints the
middle of the page and then prints the postscript errors and stops. <snip>
Kinko's said that there is probably some setting in the creation that
doesn't work with Postscript. <snip>

I ended up having to print it at home (took almost 5 hours using 2 computers/printers) and get Kinko's to make duplex copies from this "master." It also used 2 ink cartridges on one printer and finished up one on the other printer. There are 3 reports - one Descendant Narrative Book (273 pages), and two Ancestor Reports (66 pages & 68 pages). I hope I don't have to do that again - ever!! It was all in black and white.

I have no idea what Kinko's uses, except for Postscript.

Sharon,
Is the recipient of your Legacy PDF file trying to edit with the full version of Acrobat? That is a totally different issue than using free Acrobat Reader to print a family report saved as PDF by Legacy. If a book printing service cannot produce multiple copies of a family book that would match a home-printed PDF file, that would be a major concern.

One other option is to print a "master" copy of a family book at home and ask a printing service to make two-sided photocopies. Black and white copies are much more affordable than color copies on a more expensive machine.

I used a free download of PDF 995 for one family book with the PDF product set as default printer. My preference is to plan data entry carefully so that a genealogy program like Legacy will print a useful book report with no editing required.

Editing an RTF report in a word processor and adding pictures one by one is too much work when the family data changes frequently. Some living people want an ex-spouse left out etc.

I only got 5 copies made the first time (which were sold for cost to distant cousins), and now 3 more people want one (with additional updates of course). I was about to try the company you said you used, but I also know a local person whose family has a printing company and figured I would try them first.
