John,

I believe that it is a personal choice. I know some users have strong views
about what is right and what is wrong, but the real answer is what you feel
more comfortable with. Personally, I try to keep my file with just the one
"tree" and so use To Do and separate files of research requirements until I
am pretty confident, through other evidence, of who a person is. I also have
another database of "spare" people - those who may be connected, but not yet
proven.

But if you feel comfortable having these people as specific entries, then
why not? The system is there to help you and the way you want to work - not
the other way round. That's why the program is so flexible - sometimes
annoyingly so!

Another related issue I had is finding 3 people of similar ages, all with
family members, on the 1841 census. On the parish registers I can find two
of them, but not the third. There are a couple of obvious options - one of
the children wasn't christened, or there are only two separate people and
one of the entries duplicates another (eg niece staying overnight with aunt,
but also listed with parents). I have so far only put in the two who I can
prove are "real" - but have a To Do entry to try to sort out who the unknown
third person is. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a Tardis and go back to sort
out the vicars and enumerators to make them get the data right!!!

Jack

Hello Jack

Thanks for your advice. I do have some who I am 90% certain are related to
me, I think they are my mothers cousins, Would you create a separate entry
for them.
As I say I am concerned that a search of Legacy does not bring them up if
they are not in an individual entry
