I Like what you said, Tom. You said that some events are family events, such as moving or immigrating from one place to another, and need to be entered for the whole family, not just the head of the household. I agree.
BUT, how do you do that? How do you enter an event for each member of a family at one times without having to enter it for each individual? Residence - where the family lived. Some just put under the individuals name but I don't buy into this because it can be misleading. If you put a residence location under just the husband's name but not the spouse, then where was she at the time?? Any articles, newspaper or otherwise, about the wedding, reunions, family visits, etc. I always include these in their entirety as people like to read ---- just using them as a source deprives them of the pleasure. If the family moves to another state I put that here as an immigration event rather than just the head of household. Even some occupations if it was a family endeavor although I must admit that while farming is indeed a family activity I put that occupation with the father. However, a real estate business where both husband and wife are co-owners would be entered as a marriage event. Any other event that affects the family as a whole and not just one member.
