Michael I have done maps as such using Lotus 1-2-3, can be b/w or color. 1-2-3 has some mapping features which I really didn't learn how to use - they seemed a little goofy. So the way I did it was a simple worksheet with coordinates & townnames, then used to create a scatter-chart It took some fiddling, but it did work for me. I would think most spreadsheet apps could accomplish the same, but really don't know that for certain.
