Currently, the program does not allow you to leave it blank.  It is two 
radio buttons and one or the other must be clicked/on.  I believe someone is 
asking for a third radio button for "Unknown".
Of course, an option would be to have two check boxes for "Yes" (living) or 
"No" (dead) and you leave both blank if you don't know, but that would also 
require modifications to the software... and I think more modifications than 
what was originally suggested.

In 40+ years of doing genealogy I have never mis-understood the idea that
when a field is blank it means the person entering the data did not know the
information. In other words, a blank field means "Unknown".

What an amazing principle....

So why not give the researcher the option of having "Yes" or "No" checked,
OR both left blank?
