I totally agree; drop the politics and stick to the Legacy program; this is an abuse to the purpose of the site!

Enough already. This is a Legacy site, not a soapbox arena. One can always start a blog site to preach your personal feelings about anything. Let's get the messages back on track.....

I know most Americans have an open and warm heart.

I can't see the the same with Mr. Bush who call upon UN when he needs it, but at any given ocations critisice UN.

After September 11 he paid 25% of the US debt to UN. The Congress denies, initiated of Mr. Bush support to international organtisations, allso within the UN system, that runs familiy planning.

I hope Americans continue to support the peoples around the Indian Ocean. The atoll country , The Maldives, was wiped out. 40 islands are disapeared. The economical losses are 1,5 Billion dollar. Their annual GNP is 1 Billion!

To Ron: Your figures are far outdated.

The Norwegian government gave 8,2 million US dollar at December 27, another 8,2 the day after, and as I understand has an open acount. In adition the the Norwegian people have given 30 million dollar private. With normal rules this sum will be doubled by the Government so it gives 60 millions. For the moment nearby 80 million dollar or 16 dollar each Norwegian. If Americans could give only 5 dollar each, it would mean that the Maldoves could be rebuilt.

To Myrna:

The Norwegian contribution to undeveloped countries are about 2,5 billion dollar, near 0,9% of GNP. US gives 0,11% of GNP. I want to increase the Norwegian support.

Take a look on this site: http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~kristen/PRIVATDOK_MAPPE/PR_CV_KN.html and discover one way the world are linked together. The basis of Windows. Or look at Linux devoloped in Finland.

We are all linked together, and as the disaster in the Indian ocean shows us, depending on nature.

I want to thank all those who support the victimes in South East Asia. Also those off list who have given me support.

Farvel

According to MSNBC, Norway has pledged only $8.2 million. The U.S. initally pledged $35 million but has increased it's pledge to $350 million. A far second and third are Spain at $68 million and China at $63 million.
I believe that assigning sorrow to the amount of money contributed is in poor taste. This list is supposed to be about Legacy.
