Hi Dennis,

It appears you are just linked twice to your parents. From Family View with
you selected, click on icon that brings up parent relationships. It will
probably show you linked twice. Unlink yourself from one instance of your
parents and see what that does.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Ghostly Doppelganger

The problem: Legacy thinks there are TWO of me. I am my own doppelganger!

I have Legacy 4.0 Deluxe. I recently changed from Windows 98 to XP. I didn't
realize it for a while, but in that switch I "lost" Legacy. I downloaded
the free version from the web. That's when I lost the use of the "Deluxe"
version. Without the Deluxe or because of who-knows-what, when 4.0 would
start up my name and info wouldn't be shown on the screen. My wife,
children, and parents would all be there, but my spot was blank. If I
clicked on my grandfather and then father, I would show as a child, and then
I could click on myself and have my info on the screen.

So instead of mousing around like this daily, I just added myself in the
blank hole where I was supposed to be, and everything seemed to be OK. Then
I discovered I didn't have the Deluxe anymore, so I re-added the Deluxe code
and got those features back. I have Version 4.0.0.288. Build Date 17 Nov
2003.

However, now I am listed twice under my parents. I am RIN #1 in both
listings. My father now shows up as being married to my mother twice - she
is RIN #4 in both. My mother shows two husbands - both my father, and he is
RIN #3 in both.

All three of us are only listed ONCE in the VIEW - NAME LIST. With our
correct RIN numbers.

I tried to delete one of my selves, but since both have the same RIN, I was
completely gone from my own ancestry. I tried to merge, but I only have one
RIN now so there is nothing to merge.

I hope I have explained this well enough to get some help. I am stumped, and
I want to be rid of my doppelganger!

Thank you,
Dennis Schjeldahl
