You need to know what version of FTM your cousin is using because it makes a difference to the GEDCOM options selected at the time the file is exported from Legacy.
The default Legacy GEDCOM may have different note spacing or too many custom details if the cousin is using an older version of FTM released prior to August 2004. One of the Legacy list participants had to use a Basic GEDCOM to transfer to an older copy of FTM for a wall chart.
For sending the file from an XP computer with Outlook Express 6, I would click on a GEDCOM file name in Windows Explorer, send to Mail Recipient. OR start an e-mail and click on the Attach paper clip in the upper tool-- Elizabeth
