Thanks for your interest ... and that's the idea exactly ... I have since though that it'd be nice to be able to specify dates (such as 1850-1900) and only get those ... and, of course, any b/m/d with a blank/missing date should be dropped ... they'd all just sort to the front of the file.
It'd be an extremely useful report ... and I think the doubters would like and use it a lot once they saw it.

It looks like what you want is a "Group Chronology" report. In this type of report, you can select the events to include (birth, marriage, death, etc.) and the group of individuals from which to collect them. All the events are then combined and then presented in chronological order so that you can see how they relate to each other.
Does this sound like what you are looking for?
