I agree totally. Legacy Events serve the role of both Facts and Events. If people don't like the dates, create an event type without Dates, and call it "Fact" as someone else suggested. For me, just leaving the date field blank is good enough.
Adding another type of entity called a Fact (distinct from Event) would just confuse matters further, I'd suggest.
