In replying to my long posting in which I mentioned I had
I used FTM for pictures which were kept within the family
file, Joe Martin replied:

It's only 29 MB.  That is certainly much larger than the 6 MB
used by Legacy just for text information, but it's not really
all that large IMO.  FTM compreses the files down significantly
by default when read in.  This can be changed if one desires,
but I see no need to, since I'm not going to be printing 8x10
glossies of these pix.  They just go into charts and reports.
