Jim, I use Linux for almost everything except genealogy. I have experimented with using Legacy with Crossover Office, (a version of WINE) but found it unsatisfactory. It's not completely stable, and there are screen draw problems. I wouldn't trust my data to it yet. However, Win4Lin lets me run a full Windows installation on Linux. Dual booting is not necessary. Legacy and all the other genealogy data viewers run just fine on that. VMWare would let you do the same thing. Win4Lin <http://www.netraverse.com/> runs Win9x, and Win4lin Pro runs Win2K and XP.
