Hi Donna,
I suggest that you have a look at your master sources. Underneath the box for publication facts there is a tick box that says "print in parentheses". Unticking this may end your problem.

You have a very nice site. I see what you mean about putting the sources on the individual's page rather than to be compiled in a separate list including all the citations. I can see a real advantage to the method you used..
Here is an example of the "hanging parenthesis":

As you can see, I have the parenthesis just hanging below the source.
