Thanks everyone for taking the time to explain how you use it. Now I know how, when, and why. What a cool feature!
I now see why it has seemed useless. I've been focusing on two pioneer emigrations. Homesteads came before towns, of course. It's no help there. BUT, as I'm recording addresses of current descendants, who are spread all over the place, it will be TREMENDOUS help. I'm glad I asked :) I'm off to my first visit to the Red Wing MN Family History Center. In other words, I'm off to have some fun :) Ed On Sat, 2005-05-21 at 07:48, Sandra Duncan wrote: > Adding my two and a half cents to this great answer is the fact that > sometimes I am entering a new <to me> location and so I enter Reno,, NV and > hit Go location button and up pops Reno, Washoe, Nevada, USA, I did not have > to go LOOK IT UP, now that is of great value to me because I am still > entering new names on a daily basis > Hope that my explanation explains why I really enjoy using the Geo Location > data > And I hope that this helps you > Love, Light, Rainbows & Blessings > Sandra Tyler Duncan > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Brendan Caley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 1:08 AM > Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] What good is the geo location database? > > > > Well said > > For me the geo location database is a tremendous help when you have > > ancestors from many parts of the world and consistency is the watch word. > > > > Brendan > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 7:37 AM > > To: [email protected] > > Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] What good is the geo location database? > > > > The best reason is for accuracy, consistancy and completeness of location > > information.
