Carol,
I can edit the Individual ON the Name List, without double-clicking on
anyone. Just to the right of the list is everything I've ever needed. But,
maybe I just haven't run into what you are doing - I'm not a full-time user.

Ah, wait, upon double-checking... I see you can't define the columns in the
Name List to include Birth Date.

However, by selecting the tab on the right side that says "Edit", you can
see the birth date for the highlighted person. I then just click on each
"Michael Doody" in the Name List and can see their birth dates... if one
matches the new person I'm entering, then I can look at the other data to
determine if there's a match.

Also, in the Name List mine are NOT shown in Birth Date order... they are in
RIN order.

Hope this helps speed up your data entry.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Index view & name list

Is there a way I can have people listed in Index View first by Name then by
Birth Date order?

In most of my families I have some individuals who have the same given and
surname; in one family I have 125 men with the same two names. In Name List
they are shown in birth date order; but in Index View they are not - they
are all over the place.

I can go more easily from Index View to the Edit Person screen for each
individual than I can from Name List so I use it more often than Name List
before adding a person of the same name [ to check whether they may already
be on my data base]

Thanks for any help.......Carol
