Made up parent names are a good idea even if a genealogy program allows
siblings to be entered. It is very difficult to trace relationship problems
with parentless siblings. Sometimes two or more siblings marry into a family
of descendants and their names are included in a branch file copied from a
larger all-names file.
Distinctive made-up names are sometimes entered for the partner of a single
parent because genealogy programs have different issues with transfer of
family groups.
Check a Legacy relationship calculation for individuals who have one common
parent or two. Sometimes a half sibling shows as a cousin if one parent name
is deleted. There are also variations in relationship calculations in
different genealogy programs.

Why can I add a sibling to a person without first add some dummy parents
when the parents is unknown? The fields for add brother or sister is
grayed.
