Most headstones that I have seen do in fact have the ladies maiden name carved on the stone.
In the US? Sure not in any of the many Cemeteries I have checked in Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio. On rare occasion, the maiden name is included as a middle name.
