In my use there are several advantages or disadvantages to both.

1. The data entry into the pocket pc is slow and difficult using a stick. If you have the keyboard it is better.
2. The pocket pc is slower to respond

1. The lap top is larger and harder to manage
2. The lap top is much more prone to be stolen. The pocket pc can be carried back to the stacks with you.
3. The lap top is usually more expensive.

A tablet PC may be a better alternative. I have watched others use it and it seems to work great.

I currently use the pocket pc to go to the library just so that I can carry all of my information in my pocket. I would like to be able to do some limited data entry and sync it back to Legacy which can be done.

My opinions
Roger

Speaking of Pocket Genealogist, does anyone have an opinion about the advantages of a laptop over a Pocket PC? I am trying to decide which one to buy for research with Legacy at the archives.
 Thanks, Marge
