Dennis, Are you looking at the GEDCOM text file in Notepad *or* details imported by another utility for a web site?
In a quick test, I see that Prefix and Suffix are EXPORTED by Legacy in a BASIC GEDCOM 5.5 but they were not imported by a different genealogy program which uses a different tag of TITL and suffix after a surname and comma. Some genealogy programs used to reverse the suffix and prefix. It is necessary to check specific builds because Legacy has sometimes changed GEDCOM import or export options after the release of a new version number. Name variations and cause of death have been continuing GEDCOM transfer issues for years. -- Elizabeth 1 NAME John /Brown/ 2 GIVN John 2 SURN Brown 2 NPFX Sir 2 NSFX MD 1 SEX M 1 BIRT 2 DATE 1700 1 DEAT 2 DATE 1750 2 CAUS Old Age GEDCOM from another genealogy program 1 NAME John /Brown/, MD 1 SEX M 1 TITL Sir 1 BIRT 2 DATE 1700 1 DEAT 2 DATE 1750 2 CAUS Old Age ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis A couple of questions for the Legacy developers... 1> Is a GEDCOM export of the "Basic" tags supposed to include the CAUS (Cause of Death) tag? 2> Should Title Prefix and Suffix be exported in a "Basic" GEDCOM? I am finding CAUS is being exported whereas Prefix and Suffix are not. I kind of expected the opposite, but would like to know what the developers intended.
