My dad married my mother's sister after my mother died. Wouldn'that make my 
mother also my aunt? Does that mean that me, my sisters and brothers are 
cousins? Would our dad be our uncle? After all he was married to our aunt.

Your enquiry really interests me as I have had the same discussion with my
brother in law this afternoon. He would use the term Granduncle whereas I
have always used Greatuncle.

Like you I looked it up in a dictionary (UK) and it says the two terms are
synonymous. However if the mother's uncle is the Greatuncle then what is the
title of the mother's father wrt the (?)nephew?
