I would have thought the only logical way to record maiden names would be to use it as the surname of the woman concerned when you enter her. Otherwise, if you enter Mary Smith (because she is the wife of John Smith) and her sister Jane Brown (wife of Bill Brown) and their brother Fred Nerk the three siblings would have different surnames, with only the male having the same surname as the father. I thought it was convention to always enter a person with the name they were born with. Cheers Jan
