Legacy is not part of the Mormon Church. All the genealogy software
programs are working with the LDS Church to have their programs sync with
family tree. It's not going to be possible to find one that isn't working to
sync with this. You see some people have vision and can see the true
possibilities with this. In release 2.0 the focus will be "Finding my
Ancestors through Records". That means all those records the LDS Church has
been filming for decades will be digitized and online. Family Tree will be
the means to finding and searching those records. We are talking billion of
records here all free to search. You don't have to be LDS to appreciate
that.

Family Tree won't replace your genealogy software program it will only sync
with it. With Family Tree being open sourced that means many new programs
will be developed to interface with this. We can't even dream of all the
possibilities. I hear people complaining about how bloated Legacy is with
all the new features. Why do we have Research Guidance you say? With 2.0
release of Family Tree why would Legacy need Research Guidance or the IGI
Search features anymore. Right now some people need those but in the future
what else can Legacy focus on. The transition period is what's throwing some
developers right now. Be patient with them - great things are in store for
us.

I've said my peace now I'm sorry if some of you don't get it. Some didn't
appreciate the need for Personal Computers in the beginning either. Thank
you to those that have emailed your thanks and kind words to me off-line.
When I learn more things coming up I won't share it with this group. Those
interested in keeping informed will have to read my blog.
