I use my 1.0 GB Flash-Drive to store my data so I can use it with either my lap-top or desk-top computers. Then, once a week, I back it up to a CD, and monthly to an 80 GB portable disk drive. I don't use labels on the CDs, and make them with a felt-tipped Sharpie.
The one thing I should do, but don't, is find a place for "off-site" storage? Another suggestion is to store the back-ups in a fire-proof safe... I was use one frequently knowing that the chances that my hard drive and my flash drive crashing at the same time may not be a cause for worry. However, I then switched to a pocket sized external portable 40GB hard drive. I use it for all my backups of data, documents, and photos. My daughter lost some very important college work by saving her work on a flash drive that failed. (It was a Sony, so buying a good one doesn't make a difference.) I regularly use the flash drive to move work from one computer to another, but not to save info permanently. Linda B.
