Is Millennia paid for referring Legacy customers to databases with
subscriptions (like ancestry.com) and non-Legacy software (like TreeDraw) to
make up for the loss of revenue from the "free" standard version of Legacy?
If so, that might affect plans to include features like Research Guidance in
Legacy 6 and omit features that currently require separate software addons &
utilities.

The January 2006 change to Legacy 5 after the "final" August 2005 version of
Legacy 5 was not mentioned on this mailing list in January. Using the "free"
standard version of Legacy 6 requires the full download of each program
file, now 26 mb. Some customers have a struggle with 16.7 mb Legacy 5 file
size even if they have Deluxe to get online updates. A full backup of the
program file is recommended in case a Legacy user needs to open a family
file when the Internet is not available to get the online update on a new
computer or a replacement hard drive.

There is an option to get Legacy 6 Research Guidance for a single individual
by clicking on the symbol that looks like a person in a green shirt. Didn't
notice that until today. Other methods are easier for online research
without needing to use the ToDo list.

Some online sources are available one at a time using a Canadian library
card but that method is much less convenient than the ancestry.com
subscription used from within a genealogy program. Legacy 6 does not
recognize my ancestry.ca subscription but Research Guidance does list some
of the free sources like Automated Genealogy census 1901 & 1911.

If I click on "Web Search" for a name in a Family Tree Maker 2006 file, it
brings up a list of specific sources for one individual and connected family
members. The second click shows the census details for the chosen index or a
pedigree view of a family tree that can be used to navigate up and down the
generations. Canadian sources are available with a $100 subscription to
ancestry.ca and others require a World or US subscription which I do not
currently have. -- Elizabeth

I'm not sure why Millennia is more interested in bells and whistles
than they are in releasing a program that doesn't have a lot of
bugs that are reported over and over and yet there seems to be no
 attempt to fix them.
