Jenny, I asked this question before, in relation to my own mother and the answer I got seemed perfect for my purposes. My mother's "official" name is Mary Ellen Patricia according to her birth cert, so This is what I entered for her First name, but immeidately after, and still in the first name field, I type in quotation marks the name she always uses, "Patricia". So in, for example, an ancestor report, the line relating to her will show as follows:
1. Mary-Ellen Patricia SURNAME, daughter of MY GRANDFATHER and GRANMOTHER, was born on BIRTHDATE in BIRTHPLACE. Patricia married MY FATHER on MARRIAGE DATE in MARRIAGE PLACE. (Obviously, I've hidden information that may identify them as they are still living). You must make sure, however, before creating a report that the "Use quoted names for narratives" option is selected in Report Options > Format. HTH, Dermot.
