Hi, I try to follow Mills' way of citing sources, but have experienced the same problem with the Legacy citation. It would be nice if everyone would agree upon a standard, and then the software folks could implement it?

First, let me say that Ms. Mills is coming out with a new book called something like "Evidence Explained" some time this year. She has been working hard on it for a while. It is supposed to give many, many source citation examples and to help especially with online and other tricky sources to cite. I am looking forward to purchasing it. That being said, I would like to have the ability in Legacy to choose the order for each component in the source citation output, blending components from both the master source and the citation detail. The way Mills' QuickSheet suggests for citiation a census entry, the "accessed date" is listed after the web site address followed by a colon. This can only work in Legacy if, like Tam stated, each citation is its own separate master source. Otherwise, the user must add the exact same web address (www.Ancestry.com for most of mine) into every citation detail (very redundant). With thousands of these, this would be completely unworkable for me. I'm just waiting to be what format the new evidence book suggests, before I go revamping my sources again. I do believe this will quickly become the new standard, at least for those looking to have work published in a genealogical periodical. Of course the main goal of citing sources is still just to provide the reader with a way to verify the source. However, it is nice to standardize the format somewhat. I really do hope Legacy will consider providing more flexibility in choosing the order and the formatting (parentheses vs. commas, etc) of source output between master sources and the accompanying citation detail. Thanks for reading....
