The fix is quite easy - I don't understand why you think it's complicated?

1.  Update Legacy - there's even a link to click on to access the update.

2.  Run a File > File Maintenance > Check/Repair - not at all hard. The
program does all the work.

3.  Export to a new Family File - again, no more complicated than creating a
gedcom.

If you have Windows XP, you won't need to do the other two steps to update
Windows.  If you don't have Windows XP, make sure you update Windows.

There is a fix on the Legacy site but it is a bit complicated. I just
ignored it, pushed no and it finally went away. I don't recognize any
corruption of the numbering.
