Thank you for your detaled reply. I followed your instructions and came
up with the following error:

$ ant
Buildfile: build.xml

clean:
   [echo] saving existing files to .bak files
   [move] Moving 5 files to /mnt/hde1/lejos_3.0.0-M3/bin

emulator:

clean:

make:
     [cc] 2 total files to be compiled.
     [cc] Starting link

irctrcx.libs:

BUILD FAILED
/mnt/hde1/lejos_3.0.0-M3/build/build.xml:69: Basedir
/mnt/hde1/lejos_3.0.0-M3/src/comms/libirtrcx does not exist

Total time: 3 seconds

This error is actually quite similar to one I had trying to make lejos
2.1 from the 'official website' which also complained about not being
able to find files (jar files in that occasion) which is why I started
to look around and stumbled upon this list.

What should my next step be?

p.s. I clicked 'reply' when I originally posted this message and have only just noticed that by doing so I sent the email directly to Matthias Paul Scholz. My appologies for any inconvenience caused.

Hallo Linmix,

For leJOS 3, the preferred way to build on Linux is using ant (make should also work on the cvs cut, but the make files weren't included in the milestone release).

I wrote a read.me file regarding this, but due to unlucky circumstances it erroneously didn't make it into the M3 release, and the tutorial has not been updated yet accordingly.

So, for bulding on Linux, you need ant 1.6; call "ant" in the "build" folder.

If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to say so.

Tnaks for trying,
  Matthias

ps. If there is a strong desire by the community to support make further on I'd consider adding the make files to the lejOS 3 distribution, but I'd prefer not to maintain two different build environments.

Hi all,

I've only recently discoverd this list and after doing quite a bit of browsing through the archives I haven't been able to find all the answers I need. I hope you'll be able to gently nudge me in the right direction, so here goes:

I'm running a Fedora Core 4 system with a 2.6.14 kernel.
$ java -version
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

I've downloaded lejos.3.0.0-M3.tar.gz from http://www.matthias-paul-scholz.homepage.t-online.de/lejos/lejos3/index.html and extracted it into an empty directory..

I've also downloaded the documentation and read the install instructions of the tutorial. However when I come to the 'make' part I get the following error:

$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I haven't been able to find a single file named make or makefile in the whole download.

I have also read about a patch to be able to compile lejos with gcc-4 but I have very little experience compiling or applying patches and it might as well have been written in chinese.

Can anybody please help me understand what I may be doing wrong and how to get lejos properly installed?

Many thanks in advance.

Linmix
