This seems to be a problem with Vista. I don't know if is is all Vista systems,
as the report of the problem that I saw suggested it was just libusb-win32 on
64-bit Vista systems that was affected.
The next release of leJOS NXJ will also use libusb, so will have the same
problem.
I have tried using the Lego fantom API as an alternative to libusb, but I have
not been able to get this to work yet, so I do not expect this to be in the
next release.
There are other alternatives to using the libusb filter driver, including
writing our own Windows device driver, but I have not had time to work on
these. Using libusb-win32 as a device driver rather than as a filter driver
might work better, but I think this would require uninstalling the Lego driver.
As I do not currently have a Vista system, I have not been able to test this.
How many people is this affecting?
If there are any developers with a Vista system and knowledge of Windows USB
device drivers, I would appreciate help in finding a solution to this.

Whenever I install the libusb filter my USB ports die and nothing works in
them, including my keyboard and mouse and I have to go dig out my old ps/2
keyboard and uninstall the thing.
